I’ve made a few design decisions in the past week:
- There is some confusion over the licensing status of Mono. I’m tracking it, but in the end, a lot is going to depend on how the underlying platform, openSUSE, handles Mono. It doesn’t matter that Ubuntu has approved Mono, since I’m not basing SMART@znmeb on Ubuntu! I’m not using Tomboy personally, so I am planning to remove it. I am also planning to remove any Mono add-ons that I am bringing in.
- I haven’t been able to get solid test results from the “track” and “follow” streaming API yet. So that code is moving out of the repository until I do get some. Spritzer is fine, and I’m moving ahead with it.
- The biggest change is that I am now installing a few things from the openSUSE Build Service Perl repository, but I am installing and using Net::Twitter::Lite from CPAN, and upgrading everything in the appliance from CPAN in the process. There are a couple of breakages I need to track down, but they haven’t affected my testing.
Finally, really astute readers will no doubt figure out that this is a new blog, and that it is using WordPress, not Drupal. I discovered recently that the on-line marketing community is nearly unanimous in its recommendation for WordPress. Since SMART@znmeb is an online marketing tool, well …
